Salt Lake Valley Transfer Station
The Salt Lake Valley experienced tremendous growth and development in the past decade. The ability to continue landfilling solid waste locally is becoming limited because of commercial and residential growth of the Salt Lake Valley.
With the new transfer station, solid waste can now be consolidated and shipped to a remote regional landfill outside of Salt Lake County. The life of and capacity of the existing Salt Lake Valley Landfill has been extended by a number of years and conserved for future use.
Waste Diversion
Over 180,000 tons of waste a year is diverted from the Salt Lake Valley Solid Waste Management Facility. This allows more space in the Salt Lake Landfill for waste that can not be recycled.
Other benefits of the Transfer Station include the saving of fuel and labor costs for Salt Lake County, Salt Lake City, and South Salt Lake residential collection trucks due to transportation savings and efficiencies in collection routing. Traffic congestion and exhaust emissions are also provides and alternative disposal option.
Location
The Salt Lake Valley Transfer Station is located at 502 West and 3300 South adjacent to Central Valley Waste Reclamation, Quikrete, and Golf In The Round. It is easily accessible from Interstate 15 and 3300 South.
