Tours and Presentations
At the Salt Lake Valley Landfill we understand the importance of environmental education which is why our Recycling Information Office provides guided tours of the landfill and presentations at your location, for a variety of groups such as primary and secondary schools, college or university classes, and business professionals. Free of charge.
The tour of the landfill includes: the green waste area, household hazardous waste area, the tipping face, citizen unloading area, and the wildlife area. Tours can also be modified to include the methane power plant and the compost area.
The wildlife area which includes Lee Kay ponds and is home to many migratory birds including, Great Blue Heron, American White Pelican, and Western Grebes.
If your group is interested in learning more about garbage, recycling and the difference they can make to the environment schedule your tour today! Tours and presentations can be tailored to fit all ages but are generally most appropriate for the third grade curriculum.
The tours can accommodate any size of group and usually last from an hour to an hour and a half. Tours are given Monday-Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm.
